hi! welcome to the black cat tarot.

The Black Cat Tarot was created in 2019 as an online resource for learning Tarot, a virtual shop to purchase readings, and a personal blog. The blog is an intersection of Tarot and astrology, spirituality, feminism, pop culture, psychology, and whatever else I may feel like writing about. So take a look around… I hope you find something that changes your perspective.

about taylor

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by all things mystical and magickal. I would always look at my horoscope in the newspaper, and I would buy any piece of jewelry that said “Pisces.” I remember trying to learn palmistry when I was younger, wanting to know what my life would be like as an adult. I would even put my dollar bills in those Zoltar machines at the arcade to get my fortune. I guess you could say I was a bit of a psychic junkie, even at age 10.

Everyone has their preferred methods of divination, and I was drawn to astrology and Tarot cards in particular. It wasn’t until I was in college that I began seriously studying these topics. I remember my best friend (also a Pisces) and I sitting in the library at our university, looking up things about astrology. We had a lot in common, but there were also a lot of differences. We were both Pisces… so how does that work? We discovered we had different moon signs. And rising signs. And plenty of other different placements and aspects. Ohhh. Astrology was a lot more complicated than I originally thought!

Similarly, I underestimated the power of Tarot cards. I originally used Tarot cards as journal prompts. Each night, I would pull a card and use that as a theme for my journal entry. I quickly realized that Tarot cards were far too special to only be used for journaling. I began reading the cards seriously, studying each card and making notes in my journal. I would read anything Tarot-related that I could get my hands on. And here I am today.

I currently live in Indianapolis, Indiana. My roommate is a black cat named Salem. He is named after the cat from Sabrina the Teenage Witch comic books. Salem is polydactyl; he has 8 extra toes! He was a stray before he started living with me, and now he is the most spoiled cat in the world. The Black Cat Tarot is named after Salem.

For the astrology lovers who are wondering, I’m a 2H Pisces sun, 11H Sagittarius moon, and Capricorn rising. I have a ton of Pisces in my chart; I truly feel like I am the quintessential fish! Of course, my favorite Tarot card has to be the Moon. I also really love the suit of cups, and the 6 of Cups is a close second for my favorite card (I'm nostalgic af).

Other than Tarot and Astrology, I spend my time cooking and baking. I love to watch movies and TV as well. My favorites include Broad City and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. I also love yoga and moving my body in general-- it's therapeutic for me! I consider myself a true crime junkie too. I'm a proud murderino (any My Favorite Murder podcast fans out there?), and I'm always reading an Ann Rule book.

If you're new here, welcome! If you're not, hi! Send me a message and let's chat. I love meeting new people and making new friends.

my code of ethics

Each reader and astrologer has their own boundaries when it comes to reading for clients. I think it’s important for those who sell their services to be honest about their practice, so I want to be transparent with anyone who purchases a reading from me. The following is my personal code of ethics:

  • If I feel like I cannot give you an adequate reading, I will refer you to another reader.

  • I have the right to refuse service.

  • I will only read for people whom I have permission to read for. I will not read for unwilling or unknowing third parties.

  • I respect client confidentiality.

  • My readings are not a substitute or replacement for other professional help, such as therapy, financial advising, or legal assistance. I do not have the qualifications or expertise to give you professional advice.

  • I will not answer questions about medical or legal issues.

Thank you for your understanding!
